Happy Easter!

Wishing you a blessed Easter!

Snippets of Easter!

Today I thought I would share a few Easter snippets with you.  This Easter tree sits in a milk glass hobnail vase not far from where I am writing to you.  Hanging from its limbs are my boys' first Easter eggs which have their names and the year of their first Easter. Sweet memories! The frame holds a picture of my mom and her older sister, my Aunt Ginny, sitting side by side in their spring attire.  Mom's arm is a blur, so she must have been trying to escape while her sister is holding on tight! My mantel is simply adorned with a cross, spring flowers, and candles.  I display crosses throughout our home all year.  They are a constant reminder of the sacrifice that was made for you and for me. On the piano is a favorite of any little ones who gather around our home.  It is a happy, bunny village.  Everyone is ready for the big day at Easter Town! Won't you join us for dinner and dessert? My husband loves trains, so this is for him... I am a big fan of Aun

It's Azalea Time!

I often identify places I lived while growing up with flowers.  Hawaii . . . the wonderfully scented plumeria;    Maine . . . the gorgeous lilac that grew outside my bedroom window; Mississippi . . . the beautiful azalea.  Around here, you know "Spring has Sprung" when the azaleas are in bloom.  Azaleas are referred to as the "royalty of the garden".  The Mississippi Gulf Coast is ablaze with color this time of year as well as many other southern destinations, thanks to this hardy plant. If you live in a part of the world still in the grips of winter, kick back, put on some cute flip flops, drink a glass of sweet iced tea, dream of warm weather, and enjoy the view compliments of my southern home . . . Mississippi! (Flower Images) A Azaleas are best grown wild and free.  Some gardeners try to make a hedge of the bush, but at a cost of losing the free flowing nature of azaleas and many of the blooms.  The picture below is of the beloved Stanton Hall (circa 1858)

Celebrating St. Paddy's Day!

Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day and we are celebrating a day early with true Irish fare.  We love any excuse to have a family get together and since we have Irish in our blood, St. Patrick's Day is a fitting celebration. To get you in the Irish mood, here are a few vintage St. Patrick's Day cards.  You know how I love vintage cards! She is a pretty lass! Who could resist this wee lad? My dream vacation would be a trip to Ireland.  I imagine that if I visited a local pub for some good Irish food, I would find these gents! What a sweet little lass! And another... My favorite movie at anytime of the year, but especially at St. Patrick's Day, is The Quiet Man.  If you have not had the pleasure of seeing this movie, peruse your tv guide and you will probably find it on tomorrow.  It is a "must see" movie for St. Patrick's Day.  Grab a cup of tea, a scone or two, and settle in  for a terrific movie.   The Irish are known for beautiful blessin
