The Starting Line-Up:
1 Cup All Purpose Flour
1 Stick of Butter
1/2 Cups Chopped Nuts
8 Ounces of Cream Cheese
1 Cup of Powdered Sugar
Large Cool Whip
1- 3 Ounce Instant Chocolate Pudding
1- 3 Ounce Instant Vanilla Pudding
3 Cups of Milk (divided)
This dessert is comprised of several layers. Let's get started on the first layer . . . my favorite layer! Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt the butter and mix together with 1 cup of all purpose flour and 1/2 cups of chopped nuts. I used pecans today. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 13 x 9 pan and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Cool completely.
The first layer has been cooling, so let's get busy on the 2nd layer. Using a mixer, beat together 8 ounces of cream cheese with 1 cup of powdered sugar until creamy. Fold in 2 cups of Cool Whip. Layer this on top of the cooled crust. I lied, I think this is my favorite layer. Well maybe the first two are my favorites!
At this point, I cover the dessert and place it in the refrigerator while I work on the 3rd layer. Using a mixer, mix one 3-ounce box of instant chocolate pudding with 1 and 1/2 cups of milk. Pour on top of the 2nd layer and put back into the fridge to set.
For the 4th layer, use your mixer and mix one 3-ounce box of instant vanilla pudding with 1 and 1/2 cups of milk. Pour on top of the chocolate layer and carefully spread to cover. Place back in the fridge to set.
For the 5th layer, cover with Cool Whip and if desired garnish with chopped nuts, shaved chocolate, or both. I think I will just top it with Cool Whip.
Yummy! You can decrease the fat content of this dessert by using low fat cream cheese and skim milk. My mother has also used sugar free puddings as well.
I hope you enjoy this terrific summertime dessert. Blessings from Still Woods Farmhouse

My Mom used to make this for our family...especially Dad. After Mom passed away I made it for Dad's birthday. She used butterscotch pudding, because it was his favorite....so thinking that, I used butterscotch too. He ate some of it and I asked if he liked it and he said that he really didn't like butterscotch. I told him that Mom thought it was his favorite..why didn't he tell her? He said that he didn't want to hurt her feelings after she went to all the work to make it. This had gone on for years. It just showed how much he loved her. Thought I'd share this story...

Hi there,
ReplyDeleteI was going to make a dessert very similar to yours just a couple of days ago! I think the only difference is mine has a graham crumb layer, but I would prefer yours, and the second pudding layer. Mine has four layers. I'm going to try yours for sure. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe with us at my HOME and have a beautiful weekend.
Blessings,
Sandi
Hi Sandi! I love the first layer of this dessert, it is just delicious. I think you will like it as a change from your graham cracker crust. Thanks for dropping by for a visit.
