A Day to Celebrate!

Today is our 32nd anniversary!  We had a lovely dinner at Anthony's on the Bayou, a restaurant perched on the bayou and sheltered by towering oaks.  We watched the sun cast a golden glow to the sky as it slipped from the horizon.  We talked about our wedding day and the young dreams we had for our life. We reminisced about our 32 years together and we thanked God for His abundant blessings.  

 Many people ask what it takes to have a good and lasting marriage.  There are many things, but most importantly, there must be three in a marriage:  a husband, a wife, and our Lord.  Dr. Billy Graham was once asked for advice by an engaged couple.  Listen to his wise answer..." What difference can Christ make in your marriage? First, He will give you a new love for each other -- a love based not on your own selfish needs and desires, but on what you can do to help each other. That type of love -- the type Christ has for us.  In addition, Christ will help you stay pure and committed to each other, because you know He brought you together and is always with you. Jesus said, "Therefore, what God has joined together, let man not separate" (Matthew 19:6)."  Wise words for all couples.  

 It amazes me that even before God created me, He knew that one day I would meet the one "whom my soul" would love and we would eventually be joined in marriage.  It amazes me that even though we lived in different areas of the world and at times on different continents, the Lord knew that one day we would cross paths. I am so very thankful that our Lord planned for this little girl to one day meet this little boy and fall in love.

      Thank you Mary! We had a delicious dinner and topped it off with a piece of key lime pie. It is a very romantic setting and luckily the rain stayed away and we were able to see one of our glorious sunsets off the bayou. Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by!

    Thank you Elizabeth for stopping by and wishing us a happy anniversary. It was the first day of school yesterday and we both work for a large school district on the coast. It was nice to end a hectic day with a nice dinner! Have a wonderful weekend!

A Trip Down Memory Lane

I had planned to share my new front door decor, but alas, like many residents of the MS Gulf Coast, all  loose outside objects have been secured as we await the arrival of Hurricane Isaac. Instead, I thought I would share with you a set of my favorite dinnerware.  I began collecting Memory Lane ironstone many years ago, but my love of the pattern began when I was just a little girl.  My Grandma Mercer had one dinner plate.  I imagine that she picked it up either in a box of laundry soap or as a reward for shopping at the IGA of Chattahoochee, Florida.  I came to love her one plate.  My grandmother would make sure that my food was served on that plate no matter what other dinnerware pattern was set on her table!  When she passed away, I was blessed to receive her dining room set which included a lovely buffet with glass knobs along with the matching table and chairs.  I also received my Memory Lane plate. A Treasure in the Vines....Waverly Plantation

Imagine a dream.  A dream in which you are wandering through the woods and discover a beautiful, long forgotten home.  A home which rises above jasmine vines wrapped tightly around graceful columns.  A home which has endured the ravages of rain, the heat of hot Mississippi summers, the infestation of bees and bats, and yet still retains the grace of a bygone era.  Such a dream came true for the Snow family. Robert and Donna Snow owned an antique store in Phildelphia, MS.  One day a salesman stopped by and told them that he had gotten lost down by the river and found a beautiful home, hidden in the woods near West Point, MS.  According to Melanie Snow, one of the Snow's children, her parents stayed up all night thinking about the home.  The next morning they told their children that they were going on an adventure, packed the kids in the car,  and off they went.  Imagine their delight when they discovered this beautiful home . . .
