A Bedazzled Monogram Pumpkin

I saw half-cut pumpkins at Michael's Craft Store and had to have one.  After quite a bit of debate, I decided I wanted to bedazzle my pumpkin with a simple monogram and a little scroll work.  I was in the mood for an easy project and this one fits the bill. The entire project took no more than an hour to complete.
The Starting Line-Up:
One- 1/2 Cut Pumpkin of Your Choice, Sold at Michael's Craft Stores
Martha Stewart Brushed Bronze Metallic Craft Paint
Ribbon
Peel and Stick Bedazzling Items
If desired, you may want to apply a glaze to your pumpkin before bedazzling.  I chose Martha Stewart brushed bronze metallic paint.  Use a sponge brush and paint the glaze on in sections.  I added a little more glaze to the natural crevices in the pumpkin.  If you put too much in an area, simply wipe it off before it dries.  I did a few practice strokes on the inside of the pumpkin before starting on the visible side. As you can see in the close-up before and after photo, it's adds a nice touch.
The monogram and scroll work come in sheets.  Trim away the excess portion of the sheets and position the items on the pumpkin prior to peeling and sticking.  This gives you the opportunity to get an idea of where you want everything to be placed.  Next, gently peel off the backing and place the items on the pumpkin. TIP!  If you have a large embellishment, peel off a section at a time of the backing.  The items will be easier to position using this manner.  If you don't like the positioning, I found they can be peeled off and re-positioned.  Continue in this manner until the pumpkin is bedazzled to your hearts desire. Add a cute ribbon topper and that's it!  I love mine!

      Hi Sheila! I am so glad you dropped by Still Woods Farmhouse. This was a very simple craft. I am not sure if I mentioned it in the blog post, but I started it around midnight and was finished within an hour. My plan was to glaze the pumpkin and finish the rest the next day, but I got anxious and had to finish it. You know that feeling! Looking forward to visiting you again at My Kentucky Living.     Hi Lynda, super cute pumpkin! I have added the bedazzled to a real pumpkin before, but love it on the half pumpkin. Plus, who knew you could buy them already cut in half? My daughter did a project a couple years ago and put a half pumpkin in a frame. They had to cut them in half. Thanks for sharing with SYC. I will be featuring you this week.

Ronald McDonald House and Recipes: A Winning Combo!

I have collected recipes and recipe books for as long as I can remember.  Some of my most treasured recipes include my grandmother's hand written sour cream pound cake recipe dotted with batter and spattered with dots of vanilla.  It has a place of honor in my recipe notebook which contains some of my family's favorite recipes.  When we built our home, I had a set of bookshelves built in the kitchen to hold my collection of recipe books as well as a collection of milk glass.  I love to cook while looking at some of my favorite things around me. A Trip Down Memory Lane

I had planned to share my new front door decor, but alas, like many residents of the MS Gulf Coast, all  loose outside objects have been secured as we await the arrival of Hurricane Isaac. Instead, I thought I would share with you a set of my favorite dinnerware.  I began collecting Memory Lane ironstone many years ago, but my love of the pattern began when I was just a little girl.  My Grandma Mercer had one dinner plate.  I imagine that she picked it up either in a box of laundry soap or as a reward for shopping at the IGA of Chattahoochee, Florida.  I came to love her one plate.  My grandmother would make sure that my food was served on that plate no matter what other dinnerware pattern was set on her table!  When she passed away, I was blessed to receive her dining room set which included a lovely buffet with glass knobs along with the matching table and chairs.  I also received my Memory Lane plate.
